THE SCIENCE:

Peptides replicate the activity of the skin’s natural defensin molecules, engaging in quorum sensing, a communication

process used by microbes, to help regulate the skin’s microbial environment and strengthen its innate defense system.

Defensins are small, naturally occurring antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) that play a crucial role in the skin’s innate immune

defense system. They are produced by keratinocytes, neutrophils, and other epithelial cells as part of the body’s first line of

defense against pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. In the skin, defensins help maintain a balanced microbiome by
